Baseball Victoria
22 August 2015

Latin America and Australia Region, Cronulla, traded the lead five times, but Latin America ended up on top with a 5-2 win in six innings over Australia, thanks to a late three-run blast.

The Venezuela team scored on a three-run home run by Yeiner Fernandez off Benjamin Andrews, plating Adrian Sandoval and Felix Vasquez.

Luis Castillo went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for Latin America. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Fernandez brought the heat against Australia during his outing. Fernandez held Australia hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five.

Australia jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. The Australia attack began with a single from Kyle Yeo. A groundout by William Fullerton then moved Yeo from first to second.

Despite the loss, Australia's Blake Cavill dominated Latin America's batters, giving up two runs and striking out 10.

Jake Burns took the loss for Australia. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.

Cronulla played outstanding in their first Little League World Series game, stepping up their mind-set and intensity to go toe-to-toe at the international level.

They will now play the Caribbean tomorrow at 1:00pm local time, 3:00am Sunday 23 August AEST.  Watch live on ESPN 508 or follow live scoring HERE.
