U16 – Victoria White 10-9 Australian Capital Territory

It was the ACT’s second
consecutive extra innings ballgame, but they unfortunately fell short again, as
Victoria White claimed a 10-9 victory after two extra innings. Henry Hayman had
three clutch RBI down the stretch for Victoria White, while Chris Nielsen had a
long relief outing in trying conditions, striking out five and only conceding
two earned runs in six innings. Stuart Tharle and Trent Buchanan had great days
with bat in hand for the ACT, each picking up three RBI. Both teams scored runs
in the first extra frame, however Vic White managed to claim three in the 9th
inning to defeat the ACT.
U16 – South Australia 11-6 New South Wales Country
In a back and forth
ballgame between SA and NSW Country, some timely late hitting and a solid relief
outing saw them home with an 11-6 victory. Sam McLean continued his great form
at the tournament, with another three hits and two RBI. McLean also legged out
a double and a triple in warm conditions. Bailey Van Leeuwen also claimed two
RBI, while Max Bramble nailed two hits. Joe Gluyas had a massive day at the
plate for SA with a double, a triple and four RBI. Callum Park and Carey McLeod
had three hits each, while a crucial relief outing from Tyson McKee (1.2IP, 1H,
0ER, 4K) kept the Country NSW bats at bay late.
U16 – New South Wales 8-6 Victoria Blue
A big third inning from
New South Wales proved the difference as they defeated Victoria Blue 8-6. Dante
Caruso had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a walk, two doubles and
an RBI, while Chris Burke was the only Victorian to claimed two RBI on the
night. Liam McCallum was one of NSW’s best with bat in hand, claiming three
hits and an RBI, while Thomas Horne and Ky Jackson each picked up an RBI. Seb
Mathews threw the only two scoreless innings of the ballgame for New South
Wales in only 18 pitches, only giving up the one hit.
U16 – Queensland 11-6 Western Australia
Queensland scored early
and survived a late Western Australian comeback to claim the final game on
Diamond 1, 11-6. Evan Perera was the only WA player to claim multiple hits,
with a double, two singles and an RBI. Dylan Walsh and Calvin Eissens combined to throw the final 2.1 scoreless innings for WA, with both claiming a strikeout
each. The Natale brothers proved difficult for WA to get out, with Angelo going
4-for-4, scoring twice and driving in three runs, while Franco claimed two RBI.
Jack Waters squashed a Western Australian comeback, striking out five in 2.1
innings of relief to end the ballgame.
U18 – Queensland 14-4 Australian Capital Territory
The ACT and Queensland
played out a tight ballgame on Diamond 1 until Queensland pulled away late to
record a 14-4 win. Nick Hosie and Mitch
Edwards had two RBI each for the ACT, while Mark Zhang was the other ACT player
to claim multiple hits. Ethan Elliott and Kodey Wilford combined for 4.1
innings of scoreless relief, neither allowed a hit in their time on the mound
for QLD. Dermot Fritsch had two hits and three RBI on the day, while Ryoto Kusomoto
had two RBI. Conor Laverty had one of his best games of the tournament so far,
with four hits and three runs leading off for QLD.
U18 – South Australia 11-10 New South Wales Country
South Australia trailed
8-0 against New South Wales Country in the bottom of the sixth, but pulled off
a stirring comeback to walk-off NSW Country 11-10. South Australia scored all
11 of their runs in the final four innings as Nick Platten worked a bases
loaded walk to claim an unlikely victory. Hits were shared for NSW Country,
with Jake Amos, Rixon Wingrove and Thomas Holland all claiming three, one of
Wingrove’s hits saw him take Jack Stead deep for a three run home run. Mason
Clavell claimed three hits for SA, while Griffin Weber and Tyson Arnold had two
RBI apiece. Morgan Ruchel kept Country NSW quiet late, with 1.2 innings of
perfect relief, enabling SA’s bats to get the job done in the final frame.
U18 – Victoria White 10-9 New South Wales
Victoria White bounced out
of the blocks to lead 7-0, and survived a comeback from New South Wales to
claim a tight 10-9 victory. Jacob Krkovski and Flynn Stallworthy had three RBI
each for NSW, while Blake Brown made his only hit of the day count, driving in
two runs. Hits were shared for Victoria White, with Rhys De Highden and Lachlan
Medew picking up three each, while Sam Drummond had two RBI to go with his two
hits. Kyle Morrison had a great day on the mound, striking out four and only
giving up two hits in three innings on the mound for Victoria White.
U18 – Western Australia 3-1 Victoria Blue
Western Australia threw
exceptionally well to hold a potent Victoria Blue lineup to one run, as they
claimed a 3-1 win on Diamond 3. Aiden Willis claimed the only RBI of the game
for Victoria Blue, while Jack Dunn and Cooper Goodman claimed the other two
hits for Victoria Blue. Alex Hall had a great day at the plate for WA, with the
Perth Heat representative claiming three hits and a walk. Dawson Summers picked
up two RBI for WA, while on the mound, Frazer Brice (5IP, 2H, 1ER, 4K) and Ryan
Nuttall (4IP, 1H, 0ER) were near untouchable, leading the WA boys to their
fourth win of the tournament.
