Play resumes at Under 16 National Youth Championships

A wet week in Sydney has made it difficult to play all the scheduled games at the 2015 Under 16 National Youth Championships presented by Rawlings. All games were washed out yesterday due to the weather, and as a result council closed fields two and three.

Two games were played on Diamond one and one at an alternate venue at Winston Hills Baseball Club in an effort to play as many games as possible.

Queensland v Victoria White

Going into the bottom half of the 7th Queensland had a three run lead over Victoria White on diamond 1 at Blue Sox Stadium.  Off a single to right field from Sam Drummond, a RBI single to Centre from Alexander Barling and a RBI single to short-stop from Darcy Harrison, Victoria White added four runs to their scoreline and came out with a one run win, 7-6. 

New South Wales v Western Australia

After a 4 run lead after the 1st Western Australia maintained their lead and defeated New South Wales 10-2. The game was highlighted by two outstanding catches, 1st baseman Jake Taylor from WA and Ismail Adra from NSW both took great foul fly balls at the fence.

Victoria Blue v Victoria White

In a rescheduled game from Saturday, Victoria Blue and Victoria White finally got the chance to face each other at Winston Hills Baseball Club. Victoria Blue defeated their fellow state team with a 12-4 victory, highlighted by three doubles from Oliver McMahon, Brock Wells and Jamie Young.

Tomorrow games will proceed on Diamond 1 at Blacktown and to ensure play continues at the tournament two alternate fields will be utilised at Winston Hills and Hammondville. All games will return to Blacktown once council makes the necessary work and decides to re-open diamonds 2 and 3.
