Earlier this year, Baseball Victoria introduced a new initiative aimed at encouraging and promoting respect for umpires, and we need more people to Take the Pledge!
Umpires dedicate their time and energy to making baseball games possible at a variety of levels, from juniors to seniors and masters, and it's only fair that they are respected and treated kindly. In an effort to demonstrate greater respect for umpires, BV asked all Victorian baseball clubs across winter and summer, as well as winter associations and charters, to Take the Pledge to Respect Umpires.
Members of the Victorian baseball community have come together in support of this cause, with more than a dozen clubs signing the pledge and getting involved in this effort that benefits everyone who loves baseball in Victoria. Clubs were asked to send in photos of their signed pledges to be entered into a draw for a $250 Ausport Superstore gift voucher. There's still a number of clubs who have yet to Take the Pledge, and we would love to see these clubs make this important show of support for the umpires who give so much to the game.
The Take the Pledge drawing is scheduled for 7 November 2019, so all clubs who wish to participate and haven't yet done so should Take the Pledge and send photos in to Baseball Victoria for a chance to win the $250 Ausport Superstore gift voucher!
It's been wonderful to see the support thus far for Take the Pledge, and we hope to see more clubs, associations and charters sign the pledges in the next few weeks leading into the drawing for such a fantastic prize.
