Baseball Australia are proud to announce the 24 men that will represent Team Australia at the annual Honkbal Tournament, in Haarlem, Netherlands between 15-24 July.
Wilson Lee, Tom Bailey, Andrew Campbell, Jacob Younis and Aaron Sayers will represent Team Australia for the first time, while veterans Trent Oeltjen and Luke Hughes headline a group with a good combination of youth and experience.
Another notable inclusion in the squad is pitching coach Jim Colborn. Jim represented four MLB teams, was named an All-Star with the Milwaukee Brewers, and threw a no-hitter with the Kansas City Royals during his playing career.
Team Australia Manager Jon Deeble is impressed with the quality of the squad.
“We have picked an exciting group which has plenty of experience, as well as some promising up and coming ball players,” Deeble said.
“This will be a tough tournament with Japan and Taiwan always proving tough, however we are looking forward to the challenge.”
Honkbal is an annual tournament that pits Team Australia against strong opposition from Chinese Taipei, Japan, Curacao and host nation, the Netherlands.
