The Under 18 Winter Championships were played to a high standard over the weekend with the Diamond Valley Team undefeated after the first day’s play.
The DV team met a talented Ringwood team in their first game on Sunday and remained unbeaten with a one run win. However their streak came to an end in a dead rubber game before the final and they fell to Dandenong in the big game by one run.
Ringwood and Geelong were also one game behind after day one but Dandenong showed too much strength on the last day.
Dandenong were one game behind DV going into Sunday. Their win against Geelong in the early game was enough to see them qualify for the Championship game. DBA were beaten by Sunraysia in another close game on Sunday afternoon when Jordan Fleri put his team in front with a grand slam over left field.
Sunraysia went on to defeat Bendigo in their supplementary final and Geelong defeated Ringwood.
