Werribee 5 vs Malvern 2
A three run first and stellar pitching by returning hurler Wes Dejong propelled the Giants to a well-deserved victory in the last game of the calendar year.
Werribee added another run in the bottom of the fifth and a final insurance marker in the seventh, which was plenty of support for Dejong. He finished with eight strong innings and five strikeouts on 87 pitches.
Trent Pantalleresco pitched the ninth, ceding two runs.
At the plate, four batters—Oliver Box, John Curnow, Matt Howe and Ryan Blazer—each recorded two hits with one of Howe’s going for two bases and Box slugging a home run and knocking in four.
